The Red-rumped Swallow summers in the Mediterranean countries. Its pale chin and red nape distinguish it from the Swallow which we see in Britain. Also the undertail coverts are black (white in "English" Swallow) as can be seen in the left photo (Mallorca April 1997). The bottom right photo shows a Red-rumped Swallow collecting nesting material in Cyprus in April 1998. The top right photo was taken at Tabernas (Southern Spain) in April 2000 and shows the rusty coloured rump.
